A United Hands Medical Mission is conducted in every country we visit. It is primarily an opportunity to screen for certain diseases; an occasion to educate and advise the community about how to prevent the onset of specific diseases, and how to ameliorate and even reverse particular diseases by making healthy lifestyle choices. In this sense, the health fair is an empowering event.
EVERY person who receives services at a United Hands Medical Mission Clinic receives Nutrition, Fitness and
Lifestyle Counseling
All patients are introduced to the
B.E. S.M.A.R.T.™ program (health guidelines outlined in the Bible). Christian literature and gifts are also distributed (tracks, booklets, toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, etc.).
Blood pressures are documented. Most adults also have their blood glucose checked. Those who meet established criteria have blood cholesterol checked as well. Adults are evaluated at this station and then directed to the most appropriate stations based on their medical complaints, medical histories and testing results. Children of all ages are welcome to receive our free services.
The dental team educates clients about dental health and also performs numerous dental extractions, fillings and cleanings. Cosmetic dentistry (repairing chipped and/or broken teeth) is occasionally performed.
Our clients’ optical needs are addressed. Eye exams, screening for glaucoma, cataracts and hundreds of pairs of eyeglasses (reading glasses and sunglasses) are given away.
Thorough consultations to ascertain patient history, physical examinations, minor laceration repair and draining of abscesses are performed along with dispensing medications free of charge.
